In 2018 the Giants wanted to add a strong bat to their lineup. They signed free agent Evan Longoria. He had spent his whole 10 year career with the Tampa Bay Rays. He had consistently hit around 30 HRs and drove in 90 runs or more a season. His batting average was consistently .270 or higher.

As of the end of the 2021 season, Longoria had played 4 of his 6 seasons. HIs highest batting average was .261 in 2021. He hit 20 home runs once and every other season has been below 20. HIs RBIs have never been over 69 with other seasons of 54, 28 and 46.

His whole offensive production has been much lower than before the contract. He is now 37 years old and the Giants have not received any of the expected production. He has averaged 14 home runs per year with less than 50 RBIs per year. What can be expected in the final two years of a 38 year old player? This looks to be a classic Swing Badder contract.
