In the beginning of 2014, the reds signed Bailey to his huge contract. He had been a solid starter for them pitching 2 no-hitters. However this contract did not work at all for the Reds.

Bailey was immediately hindered by serious injuries. His first season was shortened with arm fatigue. He had only 23 starts and finished with 9 wins. This was to be the BEST year of his contract.

Year 2 and 3 he was only able to pitch in 8 games total. Year 4 he was 6-9 with a 6.43 ERA. Year 5, he was a horrible 1-14 with a 6.09 ERS. He was released and signed a minor league contract with the Royals after 5 seasons. In those 5 seasons he won only 18 games and lost 32. That was a total financial loss for the Reds.
